WHY CHEVIN
Chevin Tools has been at the forefront of work and toolholding technology for over 50 years. The company currently employs over 50 people at its UK headquarters in Otley, West Yorkshire.
The site has expanded several times over the years. The current shop floor houses over 30 machines, ranging from standard lathes and vertical CNC milling machines to twin pallet horizontal machining centers and full 5 axis lathes.
The shop floor is divided into 5 manufacturing cells, each serving its own product line or customer. Separate cells supply Chevin’s range of toolholding and workholding equipment while the others undertake sub-contract machining for a range of multinational OEMs. Each cell is run by a dedicated cell manager, providing a single point of contact for every enquiry.
To ensure the company plays a full part in the global market, an American sales office, Chevin Tools Inc, was opened in Chicago, Illinois in 1999 and further opportunities throughout Europe and the Far East are being explored.
The company continues to develop and expand into the 21st century. Chevin are currently undertaking development of innovative products including new high-performance live tooling, Integrated Coromant Capto® Turrets for Mazak and Doosan Daewoo lathes and fixturing solutions for the latest horizontal machining centres. This is achieved through the use of the latest 3D CAD design stations and Chevin’s commitment to investment in the latest machining technology and manufacturing best practice.
