LIVE TOOLING

Launched at MACH in 2002 and updated in 2006, an innovative range of live tooling, suitable for the Yamazaki Mazak range of lathes is offered by Chevin Tools.

The new range has been developed through close consultation with the lathe manufacturers and is based on the company's fifty years experience in the design and manufacture of toolholding systems. The new design enables the maximum benefit to be obtained from the machine tool's speed, through coolant and the associated benefits of recent developments in cutting tool technology.

The fully sealed units operate at speeds up to 6,000rpm. Induction hardened gears and high quality bearings and seals ensure smooth and accurate operation with through tool coolant as an option. The new live toolholding complements Chevin Tools existing range of Mazak static toolholding.

Chevin Tools in-house design service allows special units to be developed specifically tailored to customers requirements. Past examples have included special angled heads, offset heads, slot milling and slitting wheel applications.
